Supporting Tibetan Buddhist Nuns in the West

Welcome to Pajapati

Pajapati Foundation supports Tibetan Buddhist nuns who live and practice outside the traditional monastic systems of the East. These pioneering women are essential to the establishment of a strong monastic tradition here in the West as Tibetan Buddhism continues to take root and flourish in it’s newest home.

Pajapati provides support for individuals, groups and organizations involved in the nurturing of ordained women within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, regardless of lineage, sect or school.

Created in 2016 by three American Buddhist practitioners, Pajapati Foundation is a personal and practical response to the hardships experienced by many Western monastic women. Our goal is to increase the visibility of Tibetan Buddhist nuns here “at home” and to encourage the flow of support to those who will benefit from it most.
